About Vidyavaridhi (Doctor of Philosophy-Ph.D) Program


  Duration of the Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) : The duration of the Vidyavaridhi degree shall be for a minimum period of three years from the date of registration (As per UGC, M.Phil/Ph.D. Regulations – 2016) . The candidate selected for Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D)Programme has to undergo Vidyavaridhi Course Work (six months compulsory course) followed by written test. After the Successful completion of 6 months course work, the research scholar will be allotted a research supervisor for persuing Research work in concerned Sastra under his/her guidance. This degree in research is known as Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) The Title of the Degree printed in Sanskrit along with English Translation will be awarded.

        The University offers Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D) Program in the following Subjects:
1. Sahitya                                             8. Dvaita Vedanta
2. Vyakarana                                        9. Agama
3. Phalita Jyotisha                             10. Mimamsa*
4. Siddhanta Jyotisha                       11. Sankhaya Yoga
5. Nyaya                                              12. Veda bashyam*

*The number of seats may likely to increase by the time of admission.

Number of seats available :
           This Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test 2021 is meant for admission into Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D) program in the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati only. The medium of instruction and examination will be Sanskrit only. The number of seats available in the National Sanskrit
University, Tirupati for the Academic year 2021-22 are 59. The number of seats may likely to increase by the time of admission.  Eligibility for Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test in Shastras:

1. All those candidates who want to appear for Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test should have passed Acharya/M.A.Sanskrit (with specialization in the applied Shastra) or an equivalent degree (Sanskrit) from Universities duly recognized by University Grants Commission obtaining at least 55% marks in aggregate.
2. For Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC(Non Creamy layer)/Person with Disability (PwD) categories should have passed Acharya/M.A Sanskrit(with specialization in the applied Shastra) / equivalent degree (Sanskrit) with a minimum of 50% of Marks.
3. Foreign candidates who have passed Acharya/M.A. (Sanskrit)/equivalent degree (Sanskrit) with 55% or more marks in aggregate from any University outside India can also apply for the VVET through the Ministry of External Affairs & Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
4. For appearing in the test, such candidates also shall be considered eligible who have appeared/appearing for Acharya / M.A Sanskrit(with specialization in the applied shastra) /equivalent degree (Sanskrit) but their result is awaited, Such candidates shall be required to submit their mark-sheets showing the prescribed percentage of marks required for the registration, before the admission.
5. Those eligible candidates who have passed NET/SLET/SET/Vishishtacharya (M.Phil), in Concerned Shastra/Subject are exempted from the Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test, but they must apply online by paying the prescribed fee.

 Eligibility for Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test in Education:

  1. 1. Those who wish to appear for Vidyavaridhi in Education should have Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) or Acharya/M.A(Sanskrit)/equivalent degree (Sanskrit) with 55% of Marks along with P.G. Degree in Education with 55% of Marks.
    2. For Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layer) /Person with Disability (PwD) categories, with minimum 50% marks in Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) or Acharya/M.A(Sanskrit)/equivalent degree (Sanskrit) with 50% of Marks along with P.G. Degree in Education/M.Ed with minimum 50% of Marks.
    3. Foreign candidates who have passed Acharya/M.A. (Sanskrit)/equivalent degree (Sanskrit) / M.Ed with 55% marks in the aggregate from any University outside India along with P.G. Degree in Education with 55% of Marks can also apply for the VVET through the Ministry of External Affairs & Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
    4. For appearing in the test, such candidates also shall be considered eligible who have appeared for Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) but their result is awaited or those who appeared for P.G. Degree in Education but their result is awaited, along with 7 of 16 Acharya/M.A(Sanskrit)/equivalent degree (Sanskrit)/ M.Ed with 55% of Marks. Such candidates shall be required to submit their mark-sheets showing the prescribed percentage of marks required for the registration, before the admission.
    5. Those eligible candidates who have passed NET/SLET/SET/Vishishtacharya (M.Phil) in
    Education are exempted from the Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test, but they must apply online
    by paying the prescribed fee.

NOTE :
 The candidates pursuing Vishishtacharya (M.Phil.) are not exempted from Entrance Test.
 The applications for Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D) Entrance Test will be scrutinized by the Academic Section of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati. After Scrutiny, Eligible Candidates will only be allowed for appearing Vidyavaidhi (Ph.D) Entrance Test2021. The Entrance Test Fee paid by the Ineligible candidates will not be refunded.
