It is a two year pre-degree programme intended to lay foundation of Sanskrit learning among students. It enables the students to pursue sastra study at later stage in an efficient manner.

Eligibility: Pass in one of the following examinations with minimum five or six papers. The maximum marks should be 500 and above with English as one of papers.
(a) S.S.C./CBSE/NIOS course with or without Sanskrit and pass in ABHIJNA of Samskrita Bhasha Pracharini Sabha, Chittoor.
(b) Purva Madhyama of (1) Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (CSU), New Delhi.
(2) Sampurnananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi
(c) Sanskrit Entrance Exam. conducted by the Govt. of A.P & Telangana with English.
(d) Any examination recognized as equivalent to X class with Sanskrit.
(e) Veda Bhushan Certificate of Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Pratishthan, Ujjain
(f) Candidates possessing S.S.C without Sanskrit are also eligible to join the programme subject to the condition of passing the entrance test in Sanskrit conducted by the N.S.University, Tirupati.

Rules for Passing the Examination and Grading :
Student who secures less than 40% in external examination that is below 28 for 70 marks and 40% i.e. 12 marks for 30 marks in internal examination shall be declared failed. However, the student must secure 40% of marks in each paper and 50% marks aggregate in final examination.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
As per UGC norms each paper should consist of 80 hrs and 4 credits. i.e. one hour every day. Accordingly each paper will be divided into 4 Units. Each unit will be treated as a credit, consisting of 16 hrs.
The final paper of each semester will have different papers with four credits consisting of 80 hrs. Such credits will be minimum of 16 and maximum of 36 in entire course (4 semesters).
Attendance of 75% and passing in the exam taken by the teacher will be necessary to earn the credit.
Structure
The Acharya (M.A in Sanskrit) in all Sastras consists of
1. Hardcore courses (HCC) – Concerned Sastra with choice based credits
2. Softcore courses (SCC) – Choice Based credits from other subjects

3. Soft Skill courses (SSC) (Not Compulsory)
4. Internship (Not Compulsory) – Field work, Project.
1. Each hardcore course as well as softcore course will carry 4 credits.
2. Any Soft Skill course will be of 4 credits or according to the departments offering such courses.

In order to qualify the Acharya (eq. to M.A in Sanskrit) degree, a student must acquire a minimum of 80 credits (Hard core + Soft Core)
RULES TO SELECT THE SUBJECT.
❖ Generally the main subject opted in Sastri/Sammanita Sastri/B.A.(O.L.) programmes must be selected at Acharya level.
❖ If any candidate wants to opt a subject other than the main subject opted in Sammanita Sastri/ B.A level, he/she has to produce a certificate of evidence from a traditional scholar that he/she has studied the subject under him privately. A candidate can also be admitted in any branch without such a certificate if the admission committee is satisfied with his/her performance in the interview and recommends for admission.
❖ Those who have passed B.A. or equivalent examination of any university with Sanskrit for 200 marks are allowed to opt only Sahitya at Acharya level.
❖ Those who have passed B.A. or equivalent examination of any university with Sanskrit as a subject and Darsana as main subject can opt Advaita/Visishthadvaita/Dvaita Vedanta at Acharya level.
❖ Those who have passed Vedalankara or Vidyalankara are eligible to opt for Sahitya only.
❖ Those who have passed B.A. or B.Sc. with Astronomy as main subject and Sanskrit are eligible to opt for Siddhanta Jyotisha only.
❖ Those who have passed Acharya/M.A. with one subject already can opt for any other sastra in the Acharya programme, subject to the approval of the Admission Committee and Vice-Chancellor.
❖ The Admission Committee is empowered to accept or reject the option of any subject at the time of interview. The decision of the Vice- Chancellor on the assignment of subject to the candidates based on the recommendations of the admission Committee shall be final.
❖ This is an interdisciplinary and newly emerging area of study introduced under the innovative programme approved by UGC.

Medium of Instruction : The medium of instruction and examination shall be in English/Sanskrit.
Mode of Selection : Selection shall be made on the basis of merit through written test and flexibility test.
Shiksha Shastri ( B. Ed)Program :
Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed) program of National Sanskrit University is recognized by NCTE
(F.No.SRO/NCTE/APS09601/B.Ed/AP/2015/65123) Dated 19.05.2015. NCTE has sanctioned
Two Units (Each Unit – 50 Intake). From the academic year 2015-16 the duration of the
program is for two years.

4. Eligibility for Shiksha Shastri Entrance Test (SSET) – 2021
Candidates seeking admission into Shiksha shastri (B.Ed.) program must have:
I. Educational Qualifications:
a) Shastri (Sanskrit)/ B.A(L/OL)./ B.A. (Honors) /B.Sc. with Sanskrit as a main subject
having 1000 or more marks in three years degree program OR Vidwanmadhyama /
Siromani (Sanskrit) (Integrated course) in 10+2+3 Scheme OR Acharya / M.A.
(Sanskrit) / Vidwaduttama OR equivalent degree from any recognized Indian University
OR recognized examining body having obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent grade.
b) Eligibility conditions for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will be
45% marks in the qualifying examinations.
c) The proof of having passed the qualifying examination should be submitted at the time
of admission. Otherwise, the candidature of the applicant shall stand cancelled.
II. Age-limit:
A candidate seeking admission into Shiksha Shastri (B.Ed) program must have
completed 20 years of age on or before 1

III.Method of Selection:
Admission into Shiksha Shastri program will be through Online Computer Based Test
(CBT) called Shiksha Shastri Entrance Test (SSET). All candidates seeking admission in to
the program must apply online. All eligible candidates will be required to appear for online
Computer Based Test (CBT). Admit cards for appearing in the SSET will be uploaded on
website. Merit-lists for admission will be prepared and the information of successful candidates
will be uploaded on the University website.
The Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) Programme is a two-year professional programme in the field of Teacher Education which aims at preparing teacher educators and other education professionals including curriculum developers, educational policy analysts, planners, administrators, supervisors, school principals and researchers.
The Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) programme is designed to:
1. Prepare teacher educators equipped with knowledge and competencies to conduct as professionals and continuing professional development.
2. Prepare teacher educators with specialization in stage specific core component.
3. Develop teacher educators with deep and critical awareness of professional ethics and ability to critically engage in reflective practices.
4. Develop a rational conceptualization of educational research with an ability to carry out quality research in education.
For admission into this programme, admissions are made on merit (in marks) secured in Siksha Sastri programme.

Educational Qualification and Percentage Required:
Students who have passed Shastri/B.A (Sanskrit)/ Equivalent degree or Acharya /M.A Sanskrit/ Equivalent degree and Shiksha Shastri/ B.Ed. with Sanskrit Teaching Methodology with minimum 50% of marks from any recognized University are eligible. For the candidates Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD category, a relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the minimum pass percentage.
Atleast 50% of marks in both theory and practicum and 50 % of marks in aggregate are required in Shiksha Shastri./B.Ed.(with Sanskrit Teaching Methodology) for admission into Shiksha Acharya (M.Ed.) programme.
Admission procedure:
Admission will be made on merit base. Merit will be decided on the basis marks obtained in Siksha Shastri (B.Ed).
Vidyavaridhi (Doctor of Philosophy-Ph.D) Program:
Duration of the Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) : The duration of the Vidyavaridhi degree
shall be for a minimum period of three years from the date of registration (As per UGC,
M.Phil/Ph.D. Regulations – 2016) .
The candidate selected for Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D)Programme has to undergo
Vidyavaridhi Course Work (six months compulsory course) followed by written test. After
the Successful completion of 6 months course work, the research scholar will be allotted a
research supervisor for persuing Research work in concerned Sastra under his/her guidance.
This degree in research is known as Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) The Title of the Degree
printed in Sanskrit along with English Translation will be awarded.

4. Number of seats available :
This Vidyavaridhi Entrance Test 2021 is meant for admission into Vidyavaridhi
(Ph.D) program in the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati only. The medium of instruction
and examination will be Sanskrit only. The number of seats available in the National Sanskrit
University, Tirupati for the Academic year 2021-22 are 59. The number of seats may likely
to increase by the time of admission.

This is an interdisciplinary course introduced under the innovative programme of the University Grants Commission. The course is aimed at disseminating the theoretical and practical knowledge of Patanjali’s Yoga Sastra, their therapeutic values and relevance in maintenance of sound, body and mind.
