DEPARTMENT OF ADVAITA VEDANTA

Advaita Vedanta is one of the six orthodox systems of Indian Philosophy fully dependent on the Vedic authority. The triple texts or प्रस्थानत्रयी, Upanishads, Brahmasutra, and Bhagavadgita form the foundation of Vedanta Philosophy.  Advaita Vedanta, expounded by Bhagavatpada Shankara constitutes an integral part of the rich heritage of India. It is illuminating to Philosophers, thinkers, mystics, psychologists, and sociologists all over the world.

The Department of Advaita Vedanta at National Sanskrit University offers a rich syllabus for the learners consisting of Upanishads, Brahamsutra, and other texts of higher-level knowledge.

The Department of Advaita Vedanta was established in 1969. At the initial stage, it was started with one Lecturer (Assistant Professor) post. Gradually it developed into a full-fledged department. Students are coming from different parts of the country to study Advaita Vedanta. Presently the department is working with one Professor, one Associate Professor, and three Assistant Professor Posts. However, with personal promotions now the department has two Professors and two Assistant Professors.

The department of Advaita Vedanta has a unique reputation because of its highest academic activity. Many students from other departments are choosing Vedanta as their Choice Based Subject. The department has qualified and versatile faculty members who inspire the students. The talented and dedicated faculty members are the backbone of the department.

The students of the department excelled in national, state level, and university level competitions and brought laurels to the institution. Many of our students passed NET and got JRF fellowships. The students won several gold medals in the all-India Elocution competition.
