In commemoration of NSS Foundation Day on 24th September, 2023, and as part of “RaktdaanAmrit Mahotsav” an initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt.of India, the NSS cell of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati in collaboration with Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati and University Health Centre, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati organized a “Mega blood donation camp” on 26th September, 2023 at Prof.Ramaranjan Mukherjee Hall, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati with the theme “Give blood, Give plasma, Share life, Share often”. The event was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the event Prof.G.S.R. Krishna Murthy, ViceChancellor, National Sanskrit University, in the presence of the Chief Guest-Prof.R.V.Kumar, Director cum Vice-Chancellor, SVIMS, Tirupati. A special mention about Commander Challa Venkateswar (Retd.)-Registrar, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati who donated blood and stood as an example and contributed his part to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. Other dignitaries who were part of organizing this program include Program Coordinator-Dr.A.Chandulal, Program officer-Shri.V.Sethuram, and Medical Officers Dr.B.Baladathatreya and Dr.P.Swetha, University Health Centre, NSU, Tirupati. Speaking at the event Prof.G.S.R Krishna Murthy said that every blood donation is a precious lifesaving gift and repeat donation is the key to building a safe and sustainable blood supply and achieving Universal Health Coverage. Prof.R.V.Kumar emphasized the importance of blood donation and thanked all individuals who came forward to donate blood. A pledge in English was administered by the Program organizer Shri.V.Sethuram to the participants who attended the camp. A total of 100 donors donated blood in this Mega Blood Donation Camp. The event ended with ‘Vote of Thanks’ by the Program Co-ordinator Dr.A.Chandulal.
