About us:
The Department of Nyaya, is a part of the Faculty of Darsanas of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati. The Dept. was established in 1978, with Prof. N.S.R. Tatacharya as Reader. The Dept. undertakes teaching of Nyaya Philosophy through Sanskrit medium at Degree and PG level, and is actively engaged in pursuing research.
The Department offers courses in UG (Sastri, B.A., B.Sc), PG (Acharya), M.Phil. (Visistacharya) and Ph.D.(Vidyavaridhi) levels and has produced several valuable Dissertations/Theses.
The Department is maintaining a Library consisting of over 200 books.
At the commencement of each academic year, the head of the department conducts a meeting with the faculty of the department to chalk out the plan of action, including research.
The Department is presently sanctioned with 3 faculty positions, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor respectively. Both the Assistant Professor and Associate Professor have been promoted to Professor by service.
The Faculty members have participated in several Traditional Shastrartha Sabhas and Seminars at National and International Level presenting valuable papers, including 14th World Sanskrit Conference, Kyoto University, Japan and 7th Annual Conference on Philosophy at Athens Institute for Education and Research, Athens, Greece.
The Faculty members have published several unpublished manuscripts in different fields of Philosophy and Literature along with their teachings.

Faculty recharging strategies
The Faculty of the department regularly take post in various Shastrarthas, Gosthis and weeklong workshops and get themselves recharged through interaction with scholars from all over the country and also faculties are participating in various level sastra examinations as examiners.
Department obtain feedback from
- The faculty discusses the curriculum, teaching –learning-evaluation and changes are made to them if found necessary.
- Feedback is obtained and action is taken if necessary.
- Informal feedback is sought from the alumni and information is utilised while curriculum redesign is thought of.
- From the parents of the students to know about the wellbeing of the students.
Future plans of the department:
- The department wishes to organise a 21 day workshop for Post graduate students in each semester.
- The department wants to organise a big national seminar on NAVYA NYAYA with the reputed scholars from all over India.
- The department would like to conduct 15 day Programme on NYAYA SASTRA each semester for students of other departments.
- The department hopes to bring out Departmental Journal yearly.
- The department would like to conduct weekly student seminar for their well rich in sastras.
