ITEP - SHASTRI SHIKSHA SHASTRI (B.A. B.ED.)

About the Programme : ITEP – Shastri Shiksha Shastri (B.A. B.Ed.) program of National Sanskrit University is recognizedby NCTE (F.No.NCTE/SRC/2324202205181097/Andhra Pradesh/Recognition Orders Dt.03/03/2023). The Programme is a 4 year dual-major holistic undergraduate degree for all studentswho choose teaching as a profession after +2. The NSU B.A. B.Ed. programme will prepareteachers for the Secondary stage. The programme is governed by NCTE (Recognition, Norms andProcedure) Amendment Regulations 2019 as amended from time to time and/or the latest Regulationsas prescribed by NCTE.

Intake : 50 (Sanctioned Intake) + 5 (10%) Additional seats over and above the sanctioned seats forEWS Quota.

Traditional and Modern Streams : 70% seats are reserved for the students from Traditional stream and 30% seats are reserved forthe students from modern stream.

Duration : The ITEP shall be of four academic years comprising eight semesters including internship(field-based experiences and practice teaching). Any student-teacher who is unable to complete anysemester or appear in any semester–end examination, shall be permitted to complete the programwithin a maximum period of six years from the date of admission to the program.

Program Structure :  A dual-major bachelor’s degree program – 4 years duration across 8 semesters of study with 176credits

1. Foundation of Education – 30 credits
2. Disciplinary Courses (Major & Minor course) – 72 credits
3. Pedagogy Courses (Secondary Stage) – 16 credits
4. Ability enhancement & Value added courses – 28 credits
5. School experience – 20 credits
6. Community engagement & Practicum – 10 credits

* Would enable student-teachers to teach two subjects prescribed for study at the secondarystage (Grades 9 to 12) of school education.

 School Experience and Community work

Medium of Instruction : The medium of instruction and examination is Sanskrit except literatures and methodologiesof respective modern languages.

Multiple entry & exit options :  A certificate indicating the credits accrued for the courses pursued during the first twosemesters of study.  A diploma indicating the credits accrued for the courses pursued during the first fourSemester of study.

 Award of a bachelor’s degree in the chosen Major upon securing a total of 136 credits witha minimum of 48 credits in the major by student-teachers who wish to exit after completionof six semesters.

 Award of B.A.B.Ed. upon securing a minimum of 176 credits.

Vertical mobility opportunities : Student-teachers who successfully complete the four-year ITEP will be eligible to pursuemaster’s degree program in education- Master’s degree in the Major discipline chosen for studyduring the ITEP.

Eligibility criteria : All the candidates seeking admission into ITEP – Shastri Shiksha Shastri (B.A. B.Ed.) programof the University must have:  At least 17 years as on 1st October of respective year

 Students with valid NCET score and at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in any one ofthe following examinations.
1) Traditional Stream (No. of seats 35 out of 50)
(a) Prak-Shastri / Upashastri / Sahitya / Vedavibhushana / Varishta Upadhyaya/Uttaramadhyama under 10+2 pattern.
2) Modern Stream (No.of seats 15 out of 50)
(a) Senior Secondary / Intermediate / PUC / +2 or its Equivalent under 10+2 patternwith Sanskrit language (OR)
(b) Senior Secondary / Intermediate / PUC / +2 or its Equivalent under 10+2 patternwith Diploma in Sanskrit.

 Relaxation in percentage of marks shall be applicable as per the rules of the Govt. of India.
