HOSTEL RULES

  1. Every student should have an ID Card with him/her.
  2. No student is allowed to cook in the room/hostel premises.
  3. No student is allowed to keep any electrical/gas cooking instruments, heaters etc. in the room.
  4. Parents/guests are not allowed to stay in the hostel room.
  5. Students should get permission from the concerned warden while leaving the station.
  6. Till the completion of the programme, every student should keep all the hostel/mess related challans safely with them. Whenever required by the hostel management students should produce the challan. These challans will be used at the end of every academic year for “No Due Certificate”.
  7. Research Scholars(JRF/SRF/NFSC/NFST etc.) after paying HRA, have to produce the photocopied copy of payment receipts in their respective hostel office to obtain “No Due Certificate ”. 
  8. All the residents are expected to be back in the hostel before 7.00 pm. Late arrival may be permitted by the warden concerned with prior intimation and permission.
  9. Ragging is a criminal offense and punishable. The student may be expelled from the hostel.
  10. Smoking and consumption of alcohol, narcotic drugs, gutka etc. in the hostel premises or a student’s entry into the hostel in an intoxicated state is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary action may include expulsion/ rustication from the hostel.
  11. Abnormal activities of any nature, causing disturbance to the neighbors should not be entertained in the room/hostel premises.
  12. Students shall not arrange any function/program/puja/Celebrations and decorations within the hostel or outside without specific permission of the Warden.
  13. Students are not allowed to cut their hair in the hostel premises.
  14. No student is allowed to go to the terrace.
  15. Students are not allowed to write on the walls, pasting posters on the walls, doors etc. Hostel premises to be kept neat and clean.
  16. Students should go through the circulars regularly. Communication will be done through circulars.
  17. Boys are not allowed in girl’s hostels at any time. Likewise, girls are not allowed in the boy’s hostel at any time.
  18. Playing outdoor games like cricket, soccer etc. inside the hostel building/premises is strictly prohibited. No gambling of any kind shall be allowed on the premises of the hostel.
  19. Change/Interchange of Room: A student shall not change/interchange her/his room with another student or shift into a vacant room without the written permission of the warden. The warden has the right to shift a student from her/his room to another room in the hostel at any time without assigning any reason.
  20. Each resident is responsible for the proper upkeep of his/her room. Routine housekeeping services will apply to the common areas of the hostels but residents are expected to cooperate in ensuring cleanliness and use the dustbin provided. 
  21. For security reasons, hostel residents are advised to lock all the doors when not in the rooms. The University is not responsible for any loss/damage of the personal property of residents. Hostel authorities will not be responsible for any loss of valuable items viz., mobile, money, jewelry or personal belongings of any student. Students are advised not to keep any cash/jewelry or any costly items in the room.
  22. As a responsible inmate, optimum consumption of water and electricity is expected.
  23. No student is allowed to use loudspeakers in the rooms/hostel premises.
  24. Students are not allowed to stay in the hostel during the college hours unless the stay is unavoidable due to illness or any other valid reason. Outside students/day scholars are not allowed to stay at the hostel.
  25. No student is allowed to keep his/her luggage in the racks/room after completion of the academic year.
  26. Provision of hostel accommodation at the time of admission does not automatically ensure its continuation in the subsequent years. The student has to apply every year for admission. Admission can be denied to students for those indulging in acts of indiscipline.
  27. The student should not leave taps open when the taps are dry, as it will result in subsequent loss of water and further aggravate the water problem
  28. Interchange of Furniture/Fixture: Students shall not interchange any furniture/ fixture from one point/location in the hostel to another.
  29. Students are not allowed to form a union or community based on caste, religion or region.
  30. Assets in Common Areas/Corridors: Theft/damages to hostel assets in common areas/corridors shall be recovered from the culprit. If it is not identified then recovered from all students of the wing reside. Incase of theft/damage to items that pertain to usage by the complete hostel, the recoveries shall be made from all the occupants of the hostel.
  31. Recreation Room: There is a separate recreation room for students in the hostel. It consists of television, indoor games, newspapers and magazines. The students may either engage in playing games or unwind by watching TV.

            Timings:  Wording days : 6.00 am to 7.00 am and 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

            Holidays     : 6.00 am to 7.00 am, 9.00 am to 11.00 am and 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

  1. Students shall take prior written permission of the warden/chief warden before giving any information or interview regarding Hostel to any member of the Press, Radio, Television or any other media or before making any speech containing any information regarding the Hostel.
  2. The student shall not indulge in any political or communal activity which is detrimental to the law and order and/or against the Government. Students shall not carry on any propaganda or publicity of any nature whatsoever in respect of any political or communal matters.
  3. The student shall not bring and/or keep any pets in the premises including fish, cats, dogs, and so on. Students should desist from pampering stray dogs by offering food, petting them etc.
  4. A student will have to vacate the hostel within five days of completion of her/his examination. In case a student does not vacate her/his room, the belongings will be removed from the room and the room will be locked by the Hostel staff in presence of warden with no responsibility of the Management for the same.
  5. All the students are required to wear formal dress in the hostel.
  6. No student shall bring or store any firearm, ammunition, explosive, weapons and inflammable goods on the premises of the hostel.
  7. Students should park their Motorcycles and Scooters in the parking sheds only. No student is allowed to park in common places.
  8. Hostel Staff: Students shall treat the staff and housekeeping staff of the Hostel with due courtesy at all times. Service of the housekeeping staff shall NOT be utilized for private or personal work. No tips in cash or kind will be given to the staff of the Hostel.
  9. Students having any Chronic/Communicable disease are not allowed to stay in the hostel. Students feeling sick or feeling symptoms of sickness should report to hostel warden for evacuation to hospital.
  10. The University reserves to terminate the occupancy of the student for any disobedience or violation of the hostel rules, causing damage to person or property of the Hostel. Competent authorities can perform sudden checks in order to maintain the orderliness of the hostel campus and ensure peaceful living of the inmates.
  11. The Management has the right to discontinue Hostel accommodation given to a student on account of misconduct and/or violation of rules and regulations.
  12. Any complaints regarding electric equipment, plumbing etc., are required to be entered in the ‘Complaints Book’ available with the security of the concerned hostel.
  13. Inmates of the hostel are not allowed to make any complaint as a body or submit any group representation. However individual representations addressed to the warden alone will be looked into.
  14. Apart from the above any other rule enforced by the Chief Warden/Warden from time to time should be strictly followed by the inmates.

Note: Mess is compulsory for all the inmates of the hostels, bill will be raised whether they have taken or not taken the meals. Mess bill will be charged from the date of payment of Hostel fee.

 

 

MESS RULES

            MESS RULES

  1. Every student should wear an ID Card when he/she enters Mess.
  2. Mess is compulsory for all the inmates of the hostels, bill will be raised whether they have taken or not taken the meals. Mess bill will be charged from the date of payment of Hostel fee. Mess bill will not be charged only on 2 conditions.
  • Medical Exemption: Students proceeding on medical Leave from the campus should produce the Medical Certificate issued by the NSU Medical Officer at the time of their leaving.
  • Course Work: Scholars can be exempted for 30 days in a year without a mess bill for course work. This can be utilized in a single length i.e 30 days or twice i.e 15 days or thrice i.e 10 days. For utilization, scholars should write a letter to the warden through the concerned guide. On the recommendation of the guide, the warden will forward the letter to the concerned clerk.

         Scholars should handover the approved letter to the concerned clerk and get a signature from the clerk on photocopy.

  3. Students are not allowed to write on the walls, pasting posters on the walls, doors etc. Mess premises to be kept neat and clean.
  4. If a student is sick, a written application by the student endorsed by the warden / medical certificate by the University Medical Officer should be given to Mess clerk for allowing food in the room from the mess.
  5. Students are requested not to waste food. Outsiders are not allowed in the mess. Guests are allowed in the mess with prior permission of the Mess Clerk/ warden/ manager and charges applicable. Non-veg is strictly not permitted in the hostel.
  6. Every student should follow the mess timings. Students should enter the dining hall between 7.30 – 8.15 am for Breakfast, 1.00-1.45 pm for lunch and 7.30 – 8.15 pm for dinner and should vacate the dining hall before scheduled time i.e 8.30 am for Breakfast, 2.00 pm for lunch and 8.30 pm for dinner.
  7. No student is allowed to take meals outside the dining hall. 
  8. No student is allowed to enter the kitchen.
  9. No two or more students are allowed to take meals in a single plate.
  10. Few items in the mess viz., Curry, sweet, papad, curd, Spl.Items are limited. No Student can force the staff to serve as they like.
  11. Breakfast will be served limited i.e Rice items-2 big spoons(Hastham), Idly(4), Bonda(5), Poori(3), chapati(3) and Dosa(3).
  12. Students are expected to maintain silence while dining. Any deviant behavior such as hooting, whistling etc. will be treated as an instance of indiscipline.
  13. As a responsible inmate, optimum consumption of water and electricity is expected.

  16. Students should open a bank account in the Union Bank of India at NSU Branch and need to submit the photocopy of 1st page of the passbook respectively. This will be used while refunding the excess mess bill/Caution Deposit.
  17. The University reserves to terminate the occupancy of the student for any disobedience or violation of the hostel rules, causing damage to person or property of the mess/hostel.
  18. Apart from the above any other rule enforced by the Chief Warden/Warden from time to time should be strictly followed by the inmates.
